One of the basic but most crucial components in today’s life is having an email account. Emails have been irreplaceable for the last couple of decades. You cannot expect any official work to be done on WhatsApp or Facebook. The email was, is and always gonna be a very crucial aspect of networking.
Now, some users might face some difficulties when it comes to setting up their email account on their android devices.
Steps to Set Up your Email Account on your Android Device
Before adding/setting up your email on your device you need to make sure that you have these following things:
- Your domain name : “google.com” ,”yahoo.com” etc.
- And email address : “thatguy@gmail.com” , “girl101@yahoo.com” etc.
- Your email password.
If you have all the above, you are ready to add your email. Here’s how you will do it:
- Open your email client and find the “Settings” option.
- Click on “Add account” and tap on “Personal (IMAP/POP) and then “Next”.
- Enter your full email address and click on “Next”.
- Choose the type of email account you want:
- POP3 – it will download the emails from the server and will store them on your phone.
- IMAP – it will store the emails on the server and show a cached copy on your device. It’s the best for most of the users.
- Exchange – it won’t be available for all as it requires Microsoft Exchange Server.
- Enter your email password and click on “Next”.
Incoming Server Settings
- Username
- Password
- Server (your domain name preceded by “mail”, for example, mail.example.com).
- Port and Security type:
- If you have POP, choose one of these:
- Secure- Port:995 and Security type: SSL/TLS
- Insecure- Port:110 and Security type: None
- If you have IMAP, choose one of these:
- Secure- Port 993 and Security Type: SSL/TLS
- Insecure- Port:143 and Security Type None.
- If you have POP, choose one of these:
- Once the Settings is done with, click “Next”.
Outgoing Server Settings
- Select “Require Sign-In
- Username
- Password
- Server
- For SMTP “Port” and “Security Type”, choose any one of the two:
- Secure – Port:465 and Security Type:SSL/TLS.
- Insecure – Port:26 and Security Type None.
- Once settings are entered, click on “Next”.
