In this year of 2019, we are surrounded by gadgets. The most common personal gadgets being smartphones and laptops. These gadgets though useful, seem to be dull without an internet connection. But think about a time when you have an active data plan in your smartphone but don’t have any internet connectivity for your laptop.
In these particular situations, the smartphone can be used as a wifi hotspot without any wired (micro-USB) cable. In other words, any Smartphone above Android Froyo can act as a Wifi hotspot to provide an internet connection to a limited region.
We will be discussing how to set up your Android Smartphone into a portable wifi hotspot.
Steps to turn your Android Smartphone into a Mobile Wifi Hotspot
Follow these steps step-by-step and you are good to go:
- Go to “Settings” and scroll to find “Wireless and Networks”.
- Scroll and tap on “Portable Hotspot”.
- Turn the Mobile or Portable Hotspot “ON”. Your smartphone model name will be shown as the default hotspot name.
Note: To prevent any unknown or unnecessary users from connecting to your hotspot, you should protect it with a password. Under the “Portable Wifi Hotspot” option, you can configure your hotspot.
You can edit the hotspot name as you wish and also secure it with WPA2 PSK. Set a password of your choice. In this way, only users you choose can connect to your network.
To prevent any data misuse, securing one’s hotspot is the one and the only thing that should be done.
Many users complain that their data has been misused/overused due to mobile hotspot. There is a very simple and effective way to prevent that, as we already covered. So I don’t think users can come across any difficulties regarding mobile wifi hotspot in their android devices. Rather, this feature acts as a lifesaver in various urgent situations.
